NAINITAL

British India’s favourite summer resort, is a popular hill station located in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand the beautiful hill state of India. Situated at a height of around 2000 m, many believe that the area was reminiscent of the Cumbrian Lake district in England and thus led the homesick Englishmen to flock to Nainital. One of the most charismatic hill towns in the country, Nainital called ‘land of greens and blues’ because of lush green forests valleys and clear blue sky. And also known as the ‘town of charming lakes’ the famous Naini lake forms the nub of the beauty of Nainital, the lake is within a perimeter of nearly two miles. Girdled by lofty hills studded with attractive colonial-style villas and cottages, it is the most frequented tourist visitation of the hill station. The exquisiteness of this lake is doubly magnified during the night when its sparkling waters flirt with the numerous lights hanging on its edges, and lend it an unbelievably beautiful magical aura. A few km from Nainital lie other towns that have lakes as their centres. Bhimtal, Sattal and Naukuchiatal are little hill-towns built around tranquil lakes as well, and so this region is known as the Tal region. It offers generous opportunities for spending a holiday in serenity by the lake. There are many places scattered around this beautiful town, from picturesque town of Kausani to nature town of Binsar and from green town of Ranikhet to forest town of Jim Corbett National Park, there is enough to see and do around this unique lake city
